On paper, the world is miserable and awe depressing

bloated with pollution

and noise so loud you won't even hear yourself

scream and it'll get more rackety

because that's what everybody's doing

so maybe shut your trap

and listen to an undertone whispering

behind the fireworks and fanfare

is a voice that leads

to the most alive place on earth

where even the wind itself breathes

the ground laughs

and the sky speaks

but you may not hear it

because the noise is gone

and you are happy
