A thought?

A pen in hand, an empty note

I had something in mind

a thought

a memory

a plan?

I can't remember

It was something important

so how could I forget?

Maybe it was something I heard

or saw or tasted

In the back of my mind

it's there

or perhaps it isn't

The ink has become a puddle

on the white sheet

What a waste

but it doesn't bother me

nothing does these days

but perhaps this is the problem
